Tips for Memorizing Scripture

Here are a few tips that have helped me with memorizing Scripture. Please share your tips too!

1. Write the verse and reference on a notecard or in a journal.
2. If you are a visual learner, try writing your verse a couple times - each time in a different pen color.
3. When saying the verse, first say the reference, then the scripture, and finish with the reference.
4. Post the scripture somewhere you will see it every day - ex. the refrigerator, your mirror, in your car, etc.
5. Come up with motions or word associations to go along with your verse.
6. Think about some applications that the verse could have with your daily life.
7. Say your verse to someone else.
8. When you have memorized your verse, and begin on another one, say the first verse, and then the second.....in that way you continue to keep it fresh in your mind each week.
