Looking forward to seeing what you've picked next. My verse is in the comments.
Hello everyone! You've now had about two weeks to work on memorizing your first verse for 2011.
Do you have it down?
Are you still working on it?
Have you seen how this verse has had an impact on your life in the past two weeks?
The verse I chose was Philippians 2:14 -15:
"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation in which you shine like stars in the universe"
I have found myself trying to think more before I speak over the past two weeks. I have been more aware of the complaining and arguing that I hear around me, and realized how easy it can be to join in and add my complaint to the list if I'm not careful. I have sought to be more encouraging with my words, and sometimes that's worked, and other times I've found I again need to hold my tongue and pay more attention to my verse!
It's about time to pick our next verse. What about you? What have you been learning?
Here are a few tips that have helped me with memorizing Scripture. Please share your tips too!
- Write the verse and reference on a notecard or in a journal.
- If you are a visual learner, try writing your verse a couple times - each time in a different pen color.
- When saying the verse, first say the reference, then the scripture, and finish with the reference.
- Post the scripture somewhere you will see it every day - ex. the refrigerator, your mirror, in your car, etc.
- Come up with motions or word associations to go along with your verse.
- Think about some applications that the verse could have with your daily life.
- Say your verse to someone else.
- When you have memorized your verse, and begin on another one, say the first verse, and then the second.....in that way you continue to keep it fresh in your mind each week.
OK.....It's time to let everyone know your first scripture memory verse for this year!
If you haven’t already read the instructions thoroughly, please look at the previous post. It will tell you everything you need to know about what to post and how to post.
Remember to post: your name, the verse reference, the verse, and what translation.
Only God knows what 2011 has in store for us - we may not know the future, but He does! May we be encouraged and strengthened as we learn more about Him through His Word.
If you haven't picked a verse, you're welcome to share mine. It's listed in the comments.
Happy New Year!!
